GAP facts

-Amiel and CheRim
1. Life expectancy is only 56.6 years

This is a very short life for a person, laos might need help with healthcare.

2. 60.9% of females are literate and 77% of males are literate.

This is a HUGE gender gap, showing a problem in Laos that needs to be adressed.

-Pallavi and Ayumi
1. Laos was a french country

Maybe Laos still has important ties with France that could help them in the future

2. The independence of Laos was in 1949.

This shows that Laos should not have a problem with other countries trying to take over, since this independence is not recent.

-Jackie and Lisa
1. The government has been working to improve the economy.

This shows the government knows what major problems their country is facing, and they are not close-minded about fixing them

2. 80% of profits are agriculture.

The people might be poor, since harvesters do not make a fair wage.

-Abbie and Iqbal
1.Only 7 TV stations exist in Laos

This is a major problem! There is an obvious lack of communication going on if so little information is available. This also shows that some people are too poor to afford TV, so stations in Laos are not highly requested.

2. 100,000 internet users are active in Laos

As i said above, there are too many people that cannot buy internet from lack of money.

-Seongil, Kazu
1. Boating is the most widely used transportation if you live near the water (no cars)

This shows that the Laotians have a connection with their rivers and can put them to use without disputing over nothing with Thailand.

2. We go by train

Does the country have many airports and airplanes??

-Azam, Niel
1. The army is very poorly funded in Laos

This shows 3 things, that Laos is poor, that they have not had many military threats, and that if there are any upcoming threats to Laos, the economy will collapse.

2. There is no navy

Obviously because it's a landlocked country, although they should patroll the rivers.
